What This?

Hafa Adai! My name is Kohaku Flynn. And on November 20th, 2019 I started writing a novel based on a thick stack of my grandmother’s letters. The purpose of this blog is to share my process in piecing together a story. Whether you’re wallowing in the shadow of your own novel (I could use the company) or you’d like to exchange writing tips and tricks, I would love to hear from you!

What you can expect: I’m about half-way through my novel, which is about what Guam gave to my grandparents. This blog will help me keep track of my progress but will also include what Guam has given me.

Goal: My goal is to hopefully start a dialogue about story making in any medium (photography, writing, art,…). I see many books published but never much detailed explanation as to how they were created. So, I’ve kept a brief log of my process (gains and lack) along the way and hope that it might prove useful for anyone out there who is working on crafting a narrative. While I can only speak to my personal experience, I hope it might spark the creation of your own story as there are many Guåhan stories that have yet to be told.

Ey che’lu, there might be potholes along the way but I hope you embark on this journey with me!
